Shinseiki Pears are yellow with skin that is clear (not mottled or russetted.) They are medium-sized. The crisp, white flesh is juicy, with a bit of sweetness and a bit of tartness. The flavour is very popular. The fruit has a faint fragrance. The tree will pollinate itself, but can also be pollinated by Olympic and Hosui Pear trees. It requires multiple harvests during the season. The Shinseiki Pear tree is a cross between the Nijisseki tree (aka 20th Century Pears) and the Chojuro Pear tree.
