The 7th of July is Strawberry Sundae Day, celebrating a favourite American dessert.
The day is a great addition to the 4th of July week.
When is the last time you had a strawberry sundae? Summer goes by fast, so why not make sure to get one in now before it’s too late.

History
The first print mention that CooksInfo is aware of for a Strawberry Sundae Day on the 7th of July occurred in July 2000 in the Wisconsin State Journal:
“7 Friday. Happy National Strawberry Sundae Day.” — Your week to be festive. Madison, Wisconsin: Wisconsin State Journal. Sunday, 2 July 2000. Page 2G, col. 6.
Literature
“Hurry up there, you old Gnomes”, she called, “pour the crushed strawberries upon the vanilla ice cream. Don’t you know to-day is Strawberry Sundae Day?”
The Gnomes hurried to obey. When the crushed strawberries were poured upon the vanilla ice cream, and the mixture was sent up on the bucket, Andrew asked the eldest Gnome:
“What day of the week is to-day?”
“Monday”, said the Gnome.
“But the Fairy said it was Sunday.”
“Oh, no,” replied the Gnome impatiently. “She said it was Strawberry Sundae Day. Monday, Strawberry Sundae; Tuesday, Chocolate Sundae; Wednesday, Pineapple Sundae; Thursday, Raspberry Sundae; Friday, Cherry Sundae — but on Saturday, alas, there is no other kind of Sundae to give them, so they have plain ice cream.”
“And if you thought of another kind of Sundae to give them on Saturday, then would there be a Sundae every day in the week?” inquired Andrew anxiously.
“Why, yes”, said the Gnome, shovelling ice cream industriously, “but what’s the use of thinking about that? We haven’t any other kind of a Sundae to give them.” — Hasbrouck, Louise S. Land of the Soda Fountains. Part IV. New York: New York Tribune. Saturday, 16 July 1916. Section IV, page 8, col. 1.
