Tarahumara Tekomari Scarlet Runner Beans

Tarahumara Tekomari Scarlet Runner Beans are the same as Scarlet Runner Beans, including the showy scarlet flowers, but instead of the beans inside the pods being just black, you’ll find beans of different colours, ranging from black to light mauve, with some even speckled.

The pods grow up to 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide, and are somewhat flattened. They are covered with fine, short, soft hairs as they mature.

Fresh and young pods (up to ¼ inch / ½ cm wide), can be used as a green bean.

Dried Tarahumara Tekomari Scarlet Runner Beans cook up with a smooth texture.

History Notes

Tarahumara Tekomari Scarlet Runner Beans originated in the Tarahumara area of the Chihuahua region in Mexico.

Language Notes

Tarahumara Tekomari Scarlet Runner Beans are named after the Tarahumara Indians in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico.
