December 2nd is Fritters Day.
What’s not to like about fritters? They are small cakes of dough fried up in butter or oil, and can be savoury or sweet.
We have no idea who decided that the 2nd of December was Fritters Day: perhaps it was just an excuse to “fritter” the day away.

History
The earliest print mention of a “Fritters Day” in December that CooksInfo is aware of dates from 2001 in California:
“2 [Dec]: National Fritters Day: Whoa, buddy, don’t fritter away this opportunity.” — Morse, Debby. December is National Month Month. San Francisco, California: The San Francisco Examiner. Sunday, 2 December 2001. Page C1, col. 3.
