Veggie Mince

Veggie Mince is a generic term used colloquially to mean meatless alternatives to ground beef. The food industry calls meat replacements such as Veggie Mince “meat analogs.”

Many of the better ones, such as Yves Veggie Ground Round which is sold in North America, have the same mouth feel as regular ground beef, and work great even for basics like spaghetti with meat sauce or meatloaf. Some carnivores will have to get part-way through something made with this Veggie Mince before they realize it isn’t Minced Beef, and the giveaway is usually first the absence of the fat taste in their mouths.

You can buy Veggie Mince from many different makers. They will come in plain and flavoured versions. The plain versions are more flexible to have on hand in the freezer.
