Vouillé Duck

Vouillé Ducks have blue or black bronzed feathers, with a white bib. They have brown eyes, a short beak and short, orange shanks.

They are small, growing to only 2.75 to 3.8 pounds (1 ¼ kg to 1 ¾ kg.)

The breed is considered rare (as of 2011.)

Cooking Tips

The ducks are considered quite good eating.

History Notes

Vouillé Ducks originated in the Vouillé area of the Poitevin marshes in the Vendée area of France, on the Atlantic coast.

The breed almost disappeared but was kept alive because it was also useful as a calling duck for hunting.

Other names
