Wasabi Peas are a Japanese snack food, consisting of crunchy peas covered with a spicy coating. They are meant to be eaten out of hand.

They are made from peas at the fully mature stage, known as Marrowfat Peas in English.

The peas are roasted, then coated in oil and wasabi powder.

Some brands can be so hot they make your eyes water.

Wasabi Peas:

  • can be eaten out of hand
  • can be crushed and used as a coating on fish, etc.
  • you can grind them in a blender and use them as a coating in recipes such as for fish fillets
  • can be hard to eat a lot at once because of the heat

You can get certified kosher Wasabi Peas.
