Alturas are oblong potatoes with slight russeting on their skin.
The plant delivers high yields in a late harvest.
They are intended for processing into dried potato products, but are also good for French Fries (aka chips in the UK) even direct from cold storage (45 F / 7 C.)
History Notes
Alturas Potatoes were developed in Aberdeen, Idaho, by a team led by Joseph Pavek and later led by Rich Novy and Steve Love. From a cross between two potatoes referred to as “A77182-1” and “A75188-3”. During development, it was referred to as “A82360-7”. Released 2001.
