Amaro Montenegro

Amaro Montenegro is a clear, amber-coloured Bitters that is somewhat sweet with a spicy, citrus taste. Somewhat less bitter than other Bitters, its bitter notes come at the end of the taste.

it is made from over 40 herbs and spcies from around the world. Some tasters have guessed that its ingredients include vanilla and orange peel.

Amaro Montenegro – at 23% alcohol – can be served as an apertif with soda water added.

It is made in Zola Predosa, near Bologna (Italy), and sold in squat bottles.

History Notes

Amaro Montenegro Bitters were created in 1895 by a Stanislao Cobianchi.

Language Notes

Amaro Montenegro Bitters were named after Princess Elena of Montenegro, who at the time was engaged to Victor Emanuel III.
