Monona are small to medium-sized, oblong potatoes with light buff skin and white flesh.
They are good for potato chips (aka crisps in the UK); okay for French Fries (aka chips in the UK.)
History Notes
Monona Potatoes were iointly developed in 1953 at Beltsville, Maryland by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Frito-Lay, from a cross between two potatoes referred to as “B1268-46” and “B1299-15.”
During development, the potato was referred to as “B3620-1.”
