Ranger Russet Potatoes are long, slightly-flattened potatoes with russetted brown skin and white flesh.
They are marketed as all-purpose for direct to consumer sales and for processing into French Fries (aka chips in the UK.)
History Notes
Ranger Russet Potatoes were developed by a J.J. Pavek in Aberdeen, Idaho, for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the University of Idaho from a cross between Butte potatoes and a potato referred to as “A6595-3.”
During development, the potato was referred to as “A7411-2,”
