They have light yellow skin flushed with red.
Inside, they have pale yellow flesh, with a very mild, sweet taste.
Renown Applecrabs ripen late August / early September.
Cooking Tips
Good for fresh-eating and drying. Not very good for cooking, or canning. Some people don’t like it for juicing, either; others like it for juice.
Storage Hints
Store for up to 2 weeks, or up to 4 weeks in the fridge.
History Notes
Renown Applecrabs were developed from a seedling of Repka Kislaga apples by Agriculture Canada at its Experimental Farm at Indian Head, Saskatchewan. Introduced 1936.
