Scotch Bonnet Chiles

Scotch Bonnet Chiles look like slightly-smaller versions of Habanero Chiles. Their flavour and heat are quite similar, but the Scotch Bonnet is mainly grown in the Caribbean, whereas the Habanero is grown more in Central and South America. Scotch Bonnets mature to red or yellow.

Heat level: 100,000 Scoville Units.

Cooking Tips

Use gloves, or be extremely careful not to put your hands near your eyes anytime after working with them. Seriously.

Substitutes

Habanero, serrano, jalapeno. If you want to duplicate the hotness, then use twice as much serrano or jalapeno pepper.

Other names

AKA: Bonney Peppers, Booney Peppers, Goat Peppers
