Sweet Baloney

Sweet Baloney is Lebanon-style baloney, but with brown sugar added to the recipe to sweeten it.

Like Lebanon baloney, it is really more of a smoked sausage than standard North American baloney.

Sweet Baloney is a dark maroon colour, with flecks of spices, and larger flecks of white fat in it, and has a slightly sweet taste.

Another variation uses honey; it is called “Honey Bologna.”

You use Sweet Baloney as you would any other baloney, either as is, on sandwiches, or fried. If bought unsliced, Sweet Baloney can also be cubed for a relish tray at parties (it is good enough to be part of a relish tray: it has really nothing to do with supermarket baloney and is better compared to a German salami.)

Sweet Baloney is produced by several different manufacturers including Alderfer, Kutztown, Seltzer’s and Baum.
