History Notes
Chipeta Potatoes were developed jointly by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Colorado State University and the University of Idaho in the San Luis Valley of Colorado from a cross between Wischip potatoes and a potato referred to as “WNC612-13.”
During development, it was referred to as “AC80545-1.”
Released 1993.
Language Notes
The name is an Ute Indian word that means “white singing bird.”
