Ingredients

1 tablespoon Oil
1 Onion large, chopped finely
4 cups Water
4 tablespoons Ketchup
2 teaspoons Corn Syrup
1 teaspoon Cornstarch
Tabasco
4 tablespoons Vinegar

Instructions

Soften the onion in a frying pan in the heated oil. Don't let the onion brown. About 5 minutes.
Add all remaining ingredients except the vinegar.
Bring to a boil, lower heat, simmer uncovered for 45 minutes, then add vinegar and simmer until thick -- another 30 to 35 minutes.
Store in fridge, or freeze.

Notes

For Tabasco, add to taste: start with a few drops, adjust at end of recipe. Or use ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
