Bake Cookies Day falls on the 18th of December.
Conveniently, it is one of these special food days that actually ties in with something you might be doing anyway!
It could be a good time to get the last of your Christmas baking done, if you’re so inclined. For many people, though, with the rush of everything else to do leading up to Christmas, it might be Buy Cookies Day.
Most Christmas cookie recipes are designed to make cookies (aka biscuits in England) that last and stay fresh for many days. These cookies make great presents for neighbours, paper boys, and delivery people, and to have on hand in tins as emergency presents or feed sudden guests appearing at the door.
Though no doubt, some more conniving souls may try to foist on others cookies from last year still in the freezer…

History
The first print media mention that CooksInfo is aware of for a Bake Cookies Day on the 18th of December dates from 2005 in Wisconsin:
“Mad-o-Meter: Our gauge of how Madison is feeling. Today is a 5 in Madison, because it’s National Bake Cookies Day, it’s a week before Christmas, and, well, you can guess the rest.” — Madison, Wisconsin: Wisconsin State Journal. Sunday, 18 December 2005. Page A2, col. 5.
