The 15th of December is Chocolate Covered Anything Day.
This is a day to have something covered in chocolate, and it can be anything you want. It can be drizzled, coated or absolutely smothered in chocolate — it all counts!
To go all out, you could rent or buy a chocolate fountain, invite some friends over, and coat anything you want in chocolate.
Less ambitiously, you could buy a bottle of chocolate syrup, and coat things in it.
Remember, chocolate is a spice by itself before we sweeten it, and is also used in cooking savoury dishes such as Mexican mole sauces. So you could also literally have a chocolate covered plate of dinner today!
On another note, according to the Interflora florist company, the 16th December is the worst day to have a birthday:
“The WORST birth date emerged as December 16th — due, in part, to its proximity to Christmas, cold weather, and likelihood of it getting forgotten with all the festive celebrations.” https://www.interflora.co.uk/blog/best-birthdays/ Interflora. When is the Best Day to Celebrate a Birthday? 23 July 2018. Accessed November 2020 at https://www.interflora.co.uk/blog/best-birthdays/
So if it’s your birthday today, you definitely deserve something chocolate covered!
The first print media mention that CooksInfo is aware of for a Chocolate Covered Anything Day on the 15th of December dates from 2001 in Iowa:
“To chase away the winter doldrums (and appease women everywhere), Dec. 16 is designated National Chocolate Covered Anything Day.” — Hemenway-Forbes Meta. Weird Holidays. Waterloo, Iowa: The Courier. Friday, 12 January 2001. Page B5, col. 3.
