The 6th of July is Hand Roll Day.
It celebrates the cylindrical sushi hand rolls called “temaki” in Japanese.
A hand roll consists of sushi ingredients (seasoned rice, fish, veggies), rolled up in a flat square sheet of crunchy seaweed (“nori.”).
And, as the name implies, you get to eat it with your hands!
It is easy to make vegetarian versions with egg or tofu.
