Cooking Temperature 190 C / 375 F / Gas Mark 5
Course Biscuits and Crackers, Quick Breads

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Flour
  • 4 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ⅓ cup Butter
  • 1 cup Milk
  • ½ teaspoon Sugar if desired
  • 1 ½ cups Cheddar Cheese If desired. Grated.

Instructions

  • Combine flour, baking powder & salt (& sugar if desired) in bowl. Cut in butter. Mix in milk until you have a soft dough.
  • Start oven heating to 190 C / 375 F / Gas Mark 5.
  • Drop by spoonful onto ungreased cooking sheet. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden colour. Makes about 10 biscuits.

Notes

You can use margarine in place of butter; skim or low-fat milk in place of milk. Having saved on all this fat, you could then add the cheese for a treat.
