The 5th of September is Cheese Pizza Day.
The day celebrates plain pizza with just cheese on it, no toppings.
Because you know what always happens: throw even a paltry amount of another ingredient on, and wham, it then becomes a pepperoni pizza. Or a mushroom pizza. The cheese gets forgotten and gets no recognition!
So Cheese Pizza Day gets us back to basics, right back to the origins of pizza as being a flat bread with melted cheese on it: a very humble yet still delicious dish.
But nothing says the cheese layer has to be meagre. Because cheese is the feature item today, you get to double or triple the cheese! Be as cheesy as you want today!
No one, literally no one, has ever said their pizza had too much cheese on it.

Activities for today
- Go out with a friend for a cheese pizza;
- Order a delivery cheese pizza;
- Get a chiller or frozen cheese pizza from the supermarket and cook it up at home;
- Make a cheese pizza from scratch;
- If making from scratch, maybe try using a different cheese than mozzarella — feta, goat cheese, halloumi, blue cheese, etc.;
