The 20th of June is Ice Cream Soda Day.
An ice cream soda is one of the all-time greatest summer drinks. It combines together some of everyone’s favourites, fizzy soda, sweet syrup, and ice cream.
It is getting harder to find a commercial establishment that makes real one, as generally it can take a proper soda fountain to make one. (And note that ice cream sodas are not the same as ice cream floats.)
If you can’t find a place that makes them, get a bottle of soda water, some flavoured syrups and some ice cream, and have some friends over to make a few rounds of ice cream sodas.
You could make several different flavours and serve in smaller glasses so that everyone can do a taste testing. You could even make adult ones, using some crème liqueurs as the syrup.

History
The earliest print mention of an ‘Ice Cream Soda Day’ in June that CooksInfo is aware of dates from 1997:
“I got this calendar off of the Internet, it’s 365 reasons to party. Not that I need a reason, but it is an interesting calendar. A couple days really caught my eye. For example, June 20th is National Ice Cream Soda Day…” — Pittman, Byron. Something Different. Eldon, Missouri: Eldon Advertiser. Thursday, 19 June 1997. Page B3, col. 4.
