The 1st of July is Creative Ice Cream Flavours Day!
It’s a day to celebrate the more artisanal — or just plain odd — flavours and flavour combinations of ice cream.
The whole month of July is National Ice Cream Month, so this is a good kick-off for it.
The big debate is, does something such as Neapolitan ice cream, with its layers of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, count as creative? Or is that too ho-hum old-fashioned to count anymore? Are more unusual flavours required now such as avocado, breakfast ice cream with bacon, maple and cinnamon French toast, Bananas Foster, blue cheese, buttermilk, charcoal-infused, Earl Grey Tea, kale and lime, key lime pie, pumpkin spice, or sweet roasted garlic?
Perhaps you could dodge the question by just resolving to try a creative flavour of ice cream you have never had before. Who knows, you might find a new favourite.
The creativity could even include the toppings, or what you serve the ice cream alongside of.
