Kosher Rye Bread Recipe
The bread machine does 95% of the work for you in this Rye Bread recipe. Cooking at: 230 C / 450 F / Gas Mark 8
- Place all ingredients in machine in order listed above. Start dough cycle only.
- When dough cycle has finished, remove dough and punch down. Place covered either in oiled bread pan or cooking surface, and let rise for about an hour.
- Heat oven to 230 C / 450 F / Gas Mark 8.
- Bake in heated oven for 15 minutes, then lower temperature to 350 F / 175 C and cook for another 30 minutes.
The inital higher heat is for bread spring. Optional: 1 tbsp caraway seeds 4 tablespoons chopped uncooked onion Optional: some say spritzing the walls of the oven twice with water before putting bread in will produce a more crusty loaf. Optional: a dash or two of Kitchen Bouquet to the water will help to make the bread look browner.
